Liam Scanlon is a queer Canadian writer, actor and theatre maker. Like the protagonists of Free Zalivre, he has worked both in ad tech marketing and eco activism, and is now committed to making community-focused art addressing climate change. He’s a 2026 recipient of the London Writers Award, where he developed Free Zalivre, and an Arts Council England National Lottery grant for his second play, Attachment Theory – ‘a strikingly written, thoughtful and ambitious look at intimacy, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves about love’ (Everything Theatre). In 2024 he was granted the HW Fischer scholarship for Curtis Brown Creative’s Writing Your Novel course, and in 2023 premiered his first play, Safehouse. His writing has appeared in Outhouse Magazine, IAMB, Oyster River Pages, among others, as well as numerous variety shows and scratch nights.
